About the role
We're looking for a DevOps / Platform Engineer to own our AWS infrastructure, CI/CD systems, and platform reliability. You'll work closely with senior engineering to execute cost and reliability improvements, harden our production environment, and build tooling that lets the team ship with confidence. This is a high-ownership role with direct impact from day one.
Our engineering team is lean, pragmatic, and takes real ownership. We move fast and we build things that matter to real people. The logical next investment is a dedicated DevOps / Platform Engineer, someone who owns the operational foundation so our senior engineering capacity can shift toward higher-leverage work: data quality, architectural strategy, and the cost and performance initiatives that drive long-term business value.
What you'll own
- AWS infrastructure: EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, ALB, IAM, VPC, and CloudWatch.
- CI/CD pipelines: GitHub Actions and AWS CodeBuild, standardizing and completing rollout across all services.
- Production reliability: eliminating single points of failure, deployment safety, and incident response.
- Cost optimization: right-sizing, scheduled auto-scaling, and reserved capacity planning.
- Observability: CloudWatch dashboards, alerting, and log management.
- Staging performance test environment: load testing and pre-release validation tooling.
- Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform or CloudFormation.
What we're looking for (required)
- 3+ years hands-on AWS experience across core services (EC2, RDS, S3, ALB, IAM, VPC).
- Solid CI/CD experience: you've built and maintained pipelines, not just used them.
- Comfortable with Linux, Bash, and Python for automation and scripting.
- Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent.
- Strong operational instincts: you find root causes, fix them, and document the lesson.
- Able to work independently in a small team with shifting priorities.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with SQL data tooling such as Airflow or dbt (data-aware, not a data engineer).
- Container orchestration experience (ECS, EKS, and similar).
- Scalable search indexing (Typesense, Elasticsearch, and similar).
- Background in performance or load testing.
- Experience with cost optimization work: right-sizing, Savings Plans, and networking reviews.
