About the role
We're hiring our first dedicated Sales Leader to own how dealers join CarEdge. You'll arrive as we move from a beta cohort of ten Certified dealers into national distribution, which means you get to build the dealer sales motion from the ground up: the pitch, the pipeline, the playbook, and eventually the team. This starts as a player-coach role. You'll carry a number yourself, prove what works, and then hire and lead the reps who scale it.
Selling CarEdge to a dealer is a different conversation than most vendors have. We don't promise more leads at any cost. We ask dealers to earn an A on the Dealer Transparency Index by being honest and transparent, and we reward the ones who do. Your job is to find the dealers who want to win that way and bring them on board. You'll report to the Head of Commercial and work closely with the Dealer Account Manager, the DTI team, and Product.
What you'll own
- The dealer sales number. Pipeline, forecast, and new Certified dealer sign-ups. You own the target and how we hit it.
- The sales playbook. Prospecting, qualification, demo, and close. You build the repeatable motion, document what works, and make it teachable before you hire against it.
- Building the team. Once the motion is proven, you hire, onboard, and coach the reps who scale it. You set the bar for how CarEdge sells: honest, consultative, and never high-pressure.
- The handoff to Account Management. You partner tightly with the Dealer Account Manager so every dealer you close has a clean ramp from signed contract to active, healthy account.
- Voice of the dealer into Product and pricing. You're in more dealer conversations than anyone, so you feed what you learn about pricing, packaging, and objections back into Product and Commercial.
- Sales process and tooling. You stand up the CRM hygiene and reporting that let us forecast accurately and coach effectively as the team grows.
Who you are
- 7+ years in sales, including time leading or building a team. You've carried a quota and you've also built process and coached others to hit theirs.
- You've built a motion from scratch. An early-stage or new-segment sales role where you defined the playbook rather than inheriting one. Founding-team ambiguity energizes you.
- Automotive retail experience is a strong plus. If you've sold into dealer groups or carried a bag at a dealer software or marketplace company (vAuto, CDK, Dealertrack, CarGurus, Cars.com, and similar), we want to talk.
- Consultative, not high-pressure. Our whole brand is built on trust, and you sell the same way: honest about what we do, clear about what we don't, and focused on the dealers who genuinely want to do right by buyers.
- Data-driven and forecast-disciplined. You run a clean pipeline, you know your numbers, and you can tell the difference between activity and progress.
- Player-coach mindset. You're happy to carry the bag yourself early and just as happy to multiply yourself through a team as we scale.
